چکیده

We report the low-temperature properties of SrNd$_2$O$_4$, a geometrically frustrated magnet. Magnetisation and heat capacity measurements performed on polycrystalline samples indicate appearance magnetically ordered state at $T_{\rm N}=2.28(4)$~K. Powder neutron diffraction reveal that an \afm\ with propagation vector \QV\ is stabilised below this temperature. The magnetic order incomplete, as only one two Nd$^{3+}$ sites carries significant moment while other site remains largely disordered. presence disordered component N}$ confirmed polarised measurements. In applied field, bulk phase transition about 30~kOe. construct tentative $H$-$T$ diagram \sno\ from these

Low-Temperature Structure and Magnetic Properties of the Spinel LiMn2O4: A Frustrated Antiferromagnet and Cathode Material

Powder neutron diffraction has been used to study the nature of the structural transition away from the Fd3m cubic structure upon cooling below ∼285 K in the spinel LiMn2O4. We report powder data taken between 10 K and 333 K and propose a large cell tetragonal structure in space group I41/amd for the material at 100 K. While complete segregation of the Mn3+ and Mn4+ ions is not possible in this...

High field properties of geometrically frustrated magnets

Above the saturation field, geometrically frustrated quantum antiferromagnets have dispersionless low-energy branches of excitations corresponding to localized spin-flip modes. Transition into a partially magnetized state occurs via condensation of an infinite number of degrees of freedom. The ground state below the phase transition is a magnon crystal, which breaks only translational symmetry ...

Low temperature spin dynamics of geometrically frustrated antiferromagnets Y2Mo2O7 and Y2Mo1.6Ti0.4O7 studied by muon spin relaxation

The spin dynamics of geometrically frustrated pyrochlore antiferromagnets Y2Mo2O7 and Y2Mo1.6Ti0.4O7 have been investigated using muon spin relaxation. In Y2Mo2O7 a dramatic slowing down of the Mo spin fluctuations occurs as one approaches the spin freezing temperature TF of 22 K from above. At lower temperatures the spins freeze into a disordered magnetic state similar to that found in a spin ...

Approximate eigenvalue determination of geometrically frustrated magnetic molecules ∗

Geometrically frustrated magnetic molecules have attracted a lot of interest in the field of molecular magnetism as well as frustrated Heisenberg antiferromagnets. In this article we demonstrate how an approximate diagonalization scheme can be used in order to obtain thermodynamic and spectroscopic information about frustrated magnetic molecules. To this end we theoretically investigate an anti...

Competing spin phases in geometrically frustrated magnetic molecules.

We identify a class of zero-dimensional classical and quantum Heisenberg spin systems exhibiting anomalous behavior in an external magnetic field B similar to that found for the geometrically frustrated kagome lattice of classical spins. Our calculations for the isotropic Heisenberg model show the emergence of a pronounced minimum in the differential susceptibility dM/dB at B(sat)/3 as the temp...
